The alleged theft took place 20 years ago
A man accused of stealing Judy Garland's iconic ruby slippers from a museum in 2005 plans to plead guilty to theft and witness tampering charges. The stolen slippers were recovered by the FBI in 2018 and auctioned off for $32.5 million last month. The man, Jerry Hal Saliterman, is expected to change his plea to guilty at a hearing on January 10. The man who originally stole the slippers, Terry Jon Martin, pleaded guilty in 2023 and was sentenced to time served due to poor health. The slippers are one of only four known pairs worn by Garland in "The Wizard of Oz."
