R.I.P. David Lynch 1946-2025

David Lynch! My first memory dates back to my early 20's when I experienced "Blue Velvet" for the first time! Then "Mulholland Drive"! I've never seen a filmmaker quite like him. Then to discover that the guy painted, played, recorded and released albums as a musician too! The guy was a true original no matter what media he graced.

Let's not forget that he was an actor too! His last on-screen role was a small, yet memorable one in Spielberg's "The Fabelmans"Click here if you want to watch it!

If you're interested in watching David Lynch's cinema, of course his "Twin Peaks" TV series comes highly recommended, but as far as his movies, here are my favorite David Lynch films:

"Blue Velvet" 1986- A masterpiece that can be best described as a "neo-noir, mystery, thriller with elements of horror". A severed ear drives the plot in this unpredictable and wholly original film. If you want to see a preview, click here! It's quite the film to say the least!

"Mulholland Drive" 2001- A surreal neo-noir type of film. This was pitched as a TV pilot but after ABC rejected it, Lynch decided to expand it and change a few things to make it a feature length film. It's one of the finest films I've ever seen! To explain more would ruin the experience. Click here to see a preview!

"Lost Highway" 1997- Another surreal neo-nor, Lynch masterpiece! Involving a musician, murder & VHS tapes! Again, to explain more would take away from the experience! Click here for the preview!

"The Straight Story" 1999- The most "un-Lynch" like film of his career! A biographical account of Alvin Straight's trek from Iowa and Wisconsin on a lawn mower to see his estranged brother. Incredible film! Click here to see the preview!

"Eraserhead" 1977- David Lynch's debut is a surreal-body horror masterpiece about a man who's left to care for his grotesque, deformed child. Again, I won't say more. Click here for the preview!

Lynch never explained what the meaning of his films were. Here's an example of what I mean, click here!

There will never be another David Lynch! A true visionary artist! If you want to hear his music and see a video, click here!
