SNL Alumni Kyle Mooney's feature length film debut, "Y2K" opened over this past weekend.
I'm a sucker for cult type cinema and the plot seemed like something that looked to be interesting: What if the "Y2K" scenario happened? There was also shocking movie deaths, a robot apocalypse, potential for funny scenes, etc. The big factor this movie was missing was a balance. It was obvious that Kyle was looking for "Shaun Of The Dead" type vibes here, but alas, the movie missed mark. The film was fine when it wasn't focusing on the robots destroying the world and honed in on the characters. Unfortunately the film didn't focus on any element clearly.
The cast seemed fine with the material they had and perhaps Kyle will get more opportunities down the road, as this was not a total failure.
