Most Re-watched Christmas Movies!

I saw another Holiday movie survey float around the net. This one found that 53% of people saying" "watching Christmas movies with family & friends is part of their yearly traditions, with 41% saying they like to watch nostalgic movies from their childhood. The most re-watched are no surprises, click here to view them.

The most re-watchable Christmas themed movies for me:

1. "Fanny & Alexander" (1982)- My wife and I watch this masterpiece every year. To me, this has the most memorable family Christmas party/gathering I've ever seen on film.

2. "Eyes Wide Shut" (1999)-We also re-watch this film frequently too. Not the happiest version of Christmas ever put on film, but it speaks frankly on how some people seem selfish during Christmas perhaps? Kubrick never answered any questions, but the film has a lot to say about the holiday without coming out and actually saying it & of course the film is about other "things" that occur during one man's journey that happens to take place during the holidays.

3. I have "The Christmas Carol" on my list, but in particular the 1984 TV version starring George C. Scott! My sister & I watched this every Christmas morning growing up!

4. "Remember The Night" (1940): Underrated Christmas romantic comedy starring the incomparable Barbara Stanwyck & Fred MacMurray. Extremely charming film that more people really need to see! Perfect film to watch (or cuddle up) with your spouse or partner. Watch the preview here

5. "Joyeux Noel" (2005):  I screened this last Christmas at The Strand in Hudson Falls and it's a film based on the fateful Christmas Eve on the warfront during WWI where all sides held a ceasefire on Christmas and both sides celebrated together. Not a perfect film but it's effective and during these troubling times it proves that we can live amongst each other in peace.
