FREE MOVIE NIGHT IN HUDSON FALLS

The World Cinema Series continues at The Strand Theatre in Hudson Falls! This time we're revisiting a masterpiece from the French New Wave!

Thursday February 20th at 7pm, I'll be hosting a FREE screening of one of the most influential films of all time! Jean-Pierre Melville's "Le Samouraï" from 1967. The plot of the lone hitman being double-crossed by the one who hired him has been played out countless times but in my opinion, never as sparse, stylish, or effective as this! The late, great Alain Delon (who unfortunately passed away last year at the age of 88) is absolutely cool & unforgettable as the quietly intense and methodical as Jef Costello.

It's interesting that I saw several films that were influenced by "Le Samourai" first like Jim Jarmusch's "Ghost Dog: The Way Of The Samurai" with Forest Whitaker in the title role. Michael Mann's "Collateral" had some some Melville influence, John Frankenheimer's "Ronin" with Robert De Niro, etc. These films are decent enough, but you can't beat the original as they say.
