I was born at a very young age in Muskogee, Oklahoma. It was snowing that day. The snow was so beautiful, and I knew right then that I would spend the rest of my life in a winter wonderland. Within a year, my family moved to Phoenix, Arizona. I grew up with 3 siblings, an older brother, an older sister, and a younger sister. I would say that my brother was probably my biggest influence when it came to music. He taught himself to play guitar and practiced almost every night while I tried to sleep. One day I found one of his albums, threw it on his quadraphonic stereo, and cranked it up. It was Cosmo’s Factory by Creedence Clearwater Revival, and I’ve been hooked ever since.
In high school, I joined up with 2 guys and we started a DJ group. We called ourselves the Brews Brothers. We played high school and elementary school dances, weddings and parties. We stayed together doing this right through college, where I got my degree in communications. I knew right then that I would spend the rest of my life as a DJ. Within a year, I started a long career working for the Government.
In 2005, my wife and I moved to Vermont. It wasn’t until then that I realized that we were actually allowed to leave Arizona. Even though I love living in Vermont, I do miss certain things about Phoenix… the long hot walks on scorching asphalt, not having to renew my driver’s license until 2030, and discounted rates on golf after 2pm during the summer. Oh yeah, and my family.
Now here it is 2008, and I’m living the dream… working at a radio station in Rutland, Vermont. So let that be a lesson to you kids out there…. Just say no to drugs!!
